I’m in a Hurry, but God’s not!

But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 1 Timothy 1:16

I have to admit that patience isn’t one of my strong points. That’s often the case for people now days. We live in such a fast paced society, with little spare time, and the pressure of that lifestyle takes its toll on our patience.

However, the Bible reminds us that patience is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). A great way for Christians to be a witness of God’s love is to demonstrate patience. That can be both painful and frustrating. But we have a great example to follow in Jesus. He was the most patient person who ever lived.

During his time here, Jesus endure the worst of human behaviour. Being subjected to rejection, cynicism, violence and death, he patiently endure all with purpose and dignity. Even those closest to him often seemed clueless. Yet he did that with patience beyond human understanding.

This patience that Jesus demonstrated was an expression of his unfailing love to humanity. It’s a love that extends to you today. The Gospel is a good news message of love and hope to all. Jesus extends to us and invitation to enjoy that patient love by accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. The Bible says:

And remember, our Lord's patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him... 2 Peter 3:15.
